Costa Rica Education Fund

As a 13 year old American, I take much for granted. I realized this even more so last year, as I went on vacation with my family to Costa Rica. It is a beatiful county, with friendly people. However, I was shocked to see the condition that some children live in. As we traveled trough I saw schools (which resemble what we use here as tool sheds)and children going to school with no shoes and no supplies. Since then I have wante dto do something about it and I am ready to act!

I BELIZE in Free HIV Testing

This September, I will be moving to Belize for a year to volunteer for The Cornerstone Foundation, a local non-profit organization founded and run by women. Upon my acceptance as a volunteer intern in their HIV/AIDS department, I received a letter outlining reasonable expectations all volunteers should have before arriving. The bottom line was: As a non-profit, the organization is extremely short on resources. Don’t expect much.

Growing up is tough enough. It's even tougher when you're all alon. We're comitted to changing exactly that, and by working with la Comunidad Oscar Arnulfo Romero ("COAR") orphanage, a rare safe haven for the otherwise abandoned street children of Central America's tiniest but most violent country, we are striving to give back the furture to the children of El Salvador.
