This "project" I like to call my cleaner earth project. Me and my friends pick up trash around our city of Muskegon, Michigan twice a week. We pick up cans along the street and recycle them. Each week we find a different neighborhood to clean up. We also go to the public parks and beaches to pick up trash. I believe we make a difference in our community, because if we don't help out who will.

Last year, the holiday lights twinkling from homes, businesses, and even boats were friendlier than in years past. I knew that as a result of my Project: Bright Idea, more than 1,200 out of the millions of bulbs in Boca Raton, Florida had been changed to CFLs – compact fluorescent light bulbs – that require only ten percent of the electricity of conventional bulbs.

This summer "Rising Tide" and various other environmental and social justice organizations across the continent are organizing a convergence for climate action. We have hopes of bringing hundreds of activists together for a large gathering of minds. With the involvement of a wide range of organizers this event will have great possibilities for making change. Ecosystem defenders, urban toxics activists, carbon-free campus campaigners, permaculture farmers, system changers, and solution seekers will gather to network and brainstorm innovative, positive solutions to our urgent climate crisis.
