Youth are often depicted and criticized for negative concepts that may occur within the community. One bad apple shouldn’t spoil the bunch. Every child deserves to be praised on his or her accomplishments. So here, is your chance to be recognized on your accomplishments, talents, or community service or you can acknowledge youth of Forsyth County that have gone the extra mile to reach a successful future. The youth today are our future leaders of tomorrow. Let’s give credit, where credit is due!

Within this movement I want to create examples of positive in the minds of upcoming generations. Positive in the minds of youth between the ages of 13-18 years of age. I want examples of prosperity and realistic testimonies to be made from personal experiences, as well as examples from peers.

The problem that I am trying to solve is the miscommunications, the misunderstandings within this world, deceptions to surface into reality, being exposed, showing the actual worth of the materialisitic things in life. Exposing the reasons why poverty, crime rates, negative exists in this world.

Brick Rebuilding

Brick Rebuilding is a harm reduction-based prevention intervention model that transforms the knowledge given to Black and Latino adolescents (aged 14-18), who live in a disadvantaged socioeconomic city, Newark, NJ, on substance use and sexual intercourse.

Just Us Conference

The "Just Us" Conference is a weekend conference, including various arts-based workshops for young adults, mainly high school students, primarily located in the Hudson Valley. The workshops and conference work towards youth empowerment through the arts, as well as guidance in how to create and form youth groups, and getting college scholarships, for example. The conference this year will also end with visits to college campuses. Because of the length of the conference, all three basic meals are included in the activities of the day.

Breakthrough Parent Empowerment Conference

Breakthrough Fort Lauderdale is a non-profit organization devoted to serving the educational needs of talented, but under-resourced middle school students in the Fort Lauderdale area. We provide extra schooling on weekends and during the summer to our wonderful students. We are also a branch of the national Breakthrough Collaborative (www.breakthroughcollaborative.org).

New Orleans Youth Library Project

This was a project aimed to create a self-managed library in New Orleans that would inspire youth ages 5 thru 15 affected by Hurricane Katrina to excel academically through reading and writing. It was also a project aimed to encourage community development, parental involvement in the educational lives of their children, and inspire others to continue in the rebuilding efforts in New Orleans.

Digital Youth Leadership

In our Digital Youth Leadership program we plan to help save the youth in New Haven by introducing them to the digital world. We plan to create workshops that help them understand who they are and the people around them and that the kids can be comfortable with themselves instead of becoming a media or public standard. These workshops will include creative writting, Open disscussions, digital creations, picture taking and an athletic component.
