My group, MR. ADAPT (Montgomery Rock-Hill Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Team), will be participating in our town's Earth Day fair on April 27, 2008. Mr. ADAPT was formed in the summer of 2006 in response to the need for drug and environmental awareness among the residents of the Montgomery Township in NJ, especially the youth. Our group consists of high school and middle school students in Montgomery Township. We have participated in the previous Earth Day fair and have received recognition for it from the township.

Actually, Catholic Kids Need Love Too!, involves a variety of causes that range from drug and alcohol abuse to peer pressure, all of which teens encounter daily. Public schools are required by law to have properly trained student councillors in the facility. School psychologists are needed now more than ever as young people struggle to shape themselves and their places in the world, but in private schools, specifically parachocial schools, school "advisors" put kids in classes without ever actually speaking to them about anything going on in their lives.

For our FBLA chapter we talked to 7th graders in our middle school and had a panel of people that would come talk to them about drug awareness and how it is a growing issue and how to say "No" to drugs. The panel thought it was a great idea, and so now we are doing the same for 5th graders as well!

Rehab Rangers

This project looks to provide drug treatment for adolescents who otherwise would not be able to afford help. Through fundraisers and awareness programs, I hope to provide help to teenage drug addicts in Chicago and its surrounding areas. Many inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation facilities are not covered by insurance, leaving many families faced with a horrible dilema: Watch their loved one's descent down a deathspiral or be financially burdened for years to come. Rehab Rangers looks to "rescue" these families and provide help to teenagers who have hit "rock bottom".

Addiction

The state of being enslaved to a habit or practice, anything that is psychologically or physically habit forming.

Carcinogen

Any substance that causes cancer. Cigarettes contain major potent carcinogens.

Marijuana

The dried leaves of the hemp plant. Smoked as a narcotic or a hallucinogen. One of the most popular and common among teenage drug users.
