slavery

International Justice Mission

International Justice Mission is an organization that legally rescues a person from abusive labor and forced prostitution. IJM uses connections with the local government to legally get people away from these terrible circumstances. It costs $500 to free someone from abusive labor and $1000 to save someone from forced prostitution. To see first hand accounts and great stories/videos, visit www.ijm.org . In order to support this cause, one of my friends and I have been leading a pop can drive.

LIFEBLOOD MINISTRIES - Exchanging our blood for the lives of orphans

Because of extreme poverty, children are sold on the streets of Hyderabad, India for $10-15 and used as laborers in fields and factories, prostitutes in brothels, and human sacrifices in Hindu temples. The male/female ratio is off because parents kill their infant daughters rather than face paying a wedding dowry in the future. The Banjara Tribe is particularly vulnerable, as they are considered "untouchables" in the culture, 90% of them are illiterate, and most are born into the debt bondage that has enslaved their ancestors for generations.

Free Country? Now Free Our Slaves!!

I am going to start a community project that educates and promotes awreness about human sex slave trafficking. Many people arent aware that slavery is still a very real issue and that women are being sold for as little as 100$...thats 100$ for a human life! I have already made up flyers and posters ad also plan to start recruiting memebers within the next couple of weeks. I do not plan to keep this just a community project although i realize starting small is wisest. I am working on a website for this project and plan to take it global.

The Polaris Project

Polaris Project is a leading international organization combating human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Based in the United States and Japan, we bring together community members, survivors, and professionals to fight trafficking and slavery in the spirit of a modern-day Underground Railroad. Polaris Project uses a comprehensive strategy: empowering individual survivors of trafficking while also creating long-term social change.

Support Human Trafficking Flim!

Human trade and the buying and selling of people are not issues that echo a brutal and distant time in our past. Countless women, men, and children around the world suffer in silence in slave-like situations of commercial sexual exploitation and forced labor from which they cannot free themselves. Trafficking in persons is one of the greatest human rights challenges of our time.
