Environment

Alpha House Improvement Project

I am trying to solve several problems including sex education, health, and the environment. For my Girl Scout Gold Award I am starting a project at Alpha House, a place in my community where women can stay and find help during and after crisis pregnancies, to plant new plants in 7 flower boxes in order to help the new mothers and expecting women realize the importance of taking care of the environment and themselves by creating a relaxing atmosphere through nature and gardening.

H2O Project

The water in Bolivia isn't safe to drink, even though the people there are still drinking it in order to survive. The water is infected with human AND animal waste, with parasites that are infecting the water.

Reforestation and Restoration

I am trying to help solve global warming and stop deforestation. It is a matter of regaining all of the oxygen we can. Planting more trees and preventing them from being cut down is the main priority. The more trees there are, then the more carbon dioxide we can keep out of our atmosphere.

No Sunshine

my situation...

student maintained educational garden

Not enough people know about the environment and the problems that’s going on with it, I would love to teach and inform other people about the science of the environment. It’s such a beautiful thing, that people take for granted.

Students for Clean Water

Every 15 seconds a child dies from water related diseases. This happens mostly in impoverished countries with either no water purification systems in the villages or villages where water has been taken over by for-profit companies. As a student organization we want to raise awareness and funds to bring UV water purification systems to these villages.

Omaha Carbon Conference

Raising Awareness about Environmentalism in Omaha, and to show all the programs going on at high schools. I would also like to show things that the City could do to make the air cleaner. So the problem I'm trying to solve is the lack of green awareness in the city. The state of Nebraska is very conservative, We need to do as much as we can to really push people towards doing something green, If that means giving people the truly hard hitting facts about global warming, then that’s what we must to do. I would like to make this conference big and a celebration.

Project Wee Care

We developed project Wee Care because as single parents and college students appreciate any help that we can get. The staff members behind the Wee Care Child Care Center are wonderful people that offer our children love, patience, and time. Recently, the Wee Care Center has accepted a child who has some physical handicaps. She has to wear leg braces on her legs which make it very difficult for her to get around.

Moving? Make it eco-friendly!

My family and I were in need of another house so we built a new one and we did 90% of the whole project. Including the building, wiring, floors, etc. The hardest part was moving. The reason why it was so hard was because we had hardly any help. My dad is on disability and couldn't lift anything and my mom works full time as a nurse. Then my grandpa doesnt really need to do anything and so it was up to me to get the job done so everyone else could do what they were supposed to and/or not get hurt.
