National Honor Society Cystic Fibrosis Fun Run

Project Description

James A. Garfield High School, located in Garrettsville, Ohio, is hosting a marathon, with one hundred percent of the profits going to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We need to raise funds for t-shirts, water, and fruit for the runners, as well as medals for the winners. We are also charged for simply participating Garrettsville's "Summerfest". The races is on June 28th, 2008. Participants may choose to either walk or run. Registration before the races is $10. On the day of the race, it is $15. Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides 2008

Project Description

Hi my name is Tiffany and I am living with cystic fibrosis.My days consist of breathing treatments,taking antibiotics,specail vitamins,enzymes,and using a therapy vest to loosen the mucus built up in my chest.When I get sick I go to the hospital and get put on at least two weeks of iv antibiotics sometimes more due to the severity of the infection.I have been through numerous surgeries, and procedures due to the complcations from this disease and it is challenging.I made friends with other people who also have this disease and have lost great friends due to this disease. I lost my best friend Heidi whos live was cut short due to this devastating disease.Not a day goes by that I don't think of her.That is why your help is so important .The Cystic Fibrosis Foundaton is making "Great Strides" in the treatment and care for people like me.The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation hosts walk a thons called Great Strides across america for cystic fibrosis that raises money to find a cure.I have a team called Team Tiffy's Tigers.My team is taking part in the Bakersfield,Ca walk to be held on the 12th of April.For more info check out great strides at cff.org

Autographs4CF

Project Description

Autograph4CF is a project I'm doing, where celebrity autographs will be auctioned off to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to help fund research for a cure. CF is one of the most common genetic disorders, with about 30,000 people affected in the US alone. It affects the lungs and pancreas, and used to be like a death sentence... in the 60s, the lifespan was about 14. Now it's about 37 years, since treatments have improved. However, there's no cure yet.
Since February, I have contacted celebrities for autographs and have so far receieved signed photos or CDs from people like Johnny Depp, Green Day, John Travolta, Dakota Fanning, 30 seconds to Mars... a wide variety of people. I've set up a website with info about the cause and photos of the autographs: http://autographs4cf.wordpress.com.
Hopefully, I'll be able to get some more autographs, raise some good money, and really spread awareness about this disorder.
