I am going to hold a doggy wash to raise money for the local Humane Shelter in my area.
We will have stations for washing and grooming and most importantly a donation station where the owners can donate money to the shelter.

I am a part of a small group of "leaders" trying to put together a Fellowship of Christian Athletes group here at my university. We are striving for a weekly meeting time where everyone, not only athletes, can get together to express their own individuality and then join together to worship God. My goal is for people to grow together, trusting in one another to talk out their problems and conflicts on a college campus where decisions have to be made daily. Every college student has difficulties with stress and peer pressure, this group would allow time to get away from this conflicts and relax, while talking and worshipping God.

Passing the Torch Female Mentoring Program was established by strong, dedicated ,and caring female community leaders in Kentwood, Louisiana. The purpose of this organization is to serve as an outlet and resource for girls ages 8-18 years of age to be able to be encouraged, motivated and inspired to achieve success despite their poverty stricken environments. This organization specifically targets girls, since so many times the we realize that the young females of this community are all too often forgotten, in the school system, community, and sadly inside their own homes. Our organization provides various educational workshops on self esteem, health education, social skills, educational socials, girls night out, fashion shows, holiday socials, back to school back pack giveaways,movie nights, cultural and educational field trips that expose the children to the arts. Passing the Torch Female Mentoing program is vital to the Kentwood Louisiana community and has quickly began reaching out beyond our community to the neighboring communities of Amite, Louisiana, and Hammond Louisiana. The young girls experience a sense of worth and value within our organization that many of them lack in the home setting.
We have been able to function through the generous time and monetary donations of our mentors and a few community resources. Many times we have to go into our own pockets to buy food, clothing, and supplies for our mentees. The mentors are very dedicated and are committed to making a positive change for the children in the community to impact their chance of being successful.

Today men are facing a crisis. Thirty years ago, men represented close to 60 percent of those enrolled in colleges and universities. In 2002, according to the most recent year for which figures are available, the percentage of male undergraduates on the nation’s campuses stood at 43 percent. That figure constitutes the lowest percentage for males since the middle of the 19th century. Because there are less positive male role models in the lives of boys and young men, males have gravitated away from the college path and, for some, towards negative paths. Males make up 75 to 80 percent of all arrests and account for 93 percent of the prison population. While these numbers continue to worsen for males, MEN OF CHARACTER OF VIRGINIA is an organization that will combat and reverse the negative trends of males, one young man at a time. MEN OF CHARACTER OF VIRGINIA will enable the young men in the organization to excel in high school as they make the transition to become college students.

The mission of MEN OF CHARACTER OF VIRGINIA is to make a positive difference in the lives of young male high school students, through monthly topic presentations, service projects, and organizational events, to assist them in achieving their highest potential as they grow to become knowledgeable, responsible, and cooperative college students with a commitment to community service.

The three components are Education, Service, and Fellowship. Through the Education Component, we will present an important topic each month including college, money management, and health. The Service Component allows the high school students to participate in service projects to help assist the community and to mentor at a local elementary school. The Fellowship Component creates a family atmosphere amongst the high school men and the facilitators in the program.
