START (Stop, Think, & Act Responsibly Today) First Aid
According the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, a subset of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death in children. Red Cross research also shows that 90% of injuries are predictable and preventable. For an injured person, immediate first aid can make the difference between complete recovery and permanent disability. Our mission is to present this vital first aid information to young people of Greenville, North Carolina.

In my project, I am creating basic first aid kits for the homeless survival sacks at Sacred Heart. I will put bandages, antiseptic towlettes, gauze pads, and hand sanitizer into a small ziploc bag. I chose to use ziploc bags because they are lighter than boxes and are easier to carry for the homeless population.
I am doing this project for school and also for personal reasons. I once got an infection from an open wound and I have the means to treat it.
