Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award A Walk in the Park I was highly honored as one of four state winners of the Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award. My project is entitled “A Walk in the Park” and was the development of 29 interpretive trail signs plus informational booklets and audio trail guides for the Bobwhite State Park Nature Trail.

Vision News: A Jer's Vision Production

The mission of Jer's Vision: Canada's Youth Diversity Initiative (the Jeremy Dias Foundation) is to support youth who are addressing issues of discrimination in their schools and communities. Discrimination is still a major problem in Canada, and youth are part of the solution. The potential of youth is all too often overlooked, and we want to change that. Jer's Vision seeks to support youth through programs and services that are open to everyone.

These Come From Trees

The right message, delivered at the right time, can meaningfully reduce consumer waste paper consumption. The blog has the whole story: http://thesecomefromtrees.blogspot.com Apply "These Come from Trees" stickers to paper towel dispensers in public bathrooms (coffee shops, dorms, restaurants, gas stations), amd reduce paper towel consumption by 15%. What this means is that in a typical coffee shop, a "These Come From Trees" sticker on the paper towel dispenser will save 100 lbs. of paper towels a year...roughly one "tree's" worth of paper.

Tobacco and HIV/AIDS Awareness Charity Dinner

SEVHA (Students Educating and Volunteering for Health Awareness) is a non-profit student organization from the University of Michigan that focuses on both Tobacco and HIV/AIDS awareness. Throughout the year, we have three main goals: working with others organizations to spread awareness around campus and the greater Michigan area, perfecting our own tobacco and HIV/AIDS presentations, and fundraising in any way we can while continuing to spread awarness.

The [i] Phoenix [/i] was originally aimed at a readership of high school students, but subscribers now include a healthy dose of parents and teachers as well. The [i] Phoenix [/i] began when I saw that something important was missing from Pomperaug.
