Allegany County Chapter of the American Red Cross Youth Club

In an effort to engage youth in Allegany County, the Red Cross Club provides youth with various community service opportunities. With the guidance of the Allegany County Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Club completes projects dealing with disaster response and preparedness, health and safety services, blood drives and community involvement with other local agencies. Up to now, projects have been very small and easily completed within the time span of one meeting.

Disaster Relief Club

After Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2004 myself, along with two fellow students, created the Disaster Relief Club at our high school to help generate aid to be sent for the relief effort. We held club meetings after school to propose various ways to raise money to be sent to the areas affected by the hurricanes. We developed the idea to hold a "battle of the bands" of sorts at our high school to help raise money and awareness. We asked local rock bands and musical acts to play in our school auditorium for a night of music and fun.

Project Save A Life

A Girl Scout Gold Award Project. Millions of people are effected by health issues; how are those who are healthy supporting those who are not? Sure donating money to one specific organization is helpful, but when there are so many why not spread the wealth? The goal of Project Save A Life is to pull the American Red Cross, Locks of Love, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Carly's Club (pediatric cancer), Donate Life (organ donation), AIDS Community Services of Buffalo, and Hospice of Buffalo, together and have the ultimate fundraiser.
