Two summers ago I was able to visit India, my home country, to learn dance from my teacher's Guru and perform at over 7 prestigious events in a two week time period. The trip was amazing except for one fact... witnessing the countless stray animals barely living in the streets. I was heartbroken and did as much as I could when I was there, giving them my food and finding some extra food for their family. However, I couldn't do much more as I was leaving in a month. But I decided that I really wanted to make a difference.

This past school year, I have been contacting various animal welfare organizations in India. I have successfully partnered with one shelter called PAWS. They are very in touch with animal needs and rights. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to work there. I am raising money, hopefully over $10,000 to spay and neuter stray animals in India. This hopefully stop the reproduction of homeless dogs and cats in a humane way. These pets will be spayed and neutered, cared for, and given rabies protection, then released back from where they were picked up. I will also be working at the shelter over the summer to learn and take care of the animals. Over the two week period, I will also visit approximately five schools giving presentations about animal welfare. It is a common social feeling in India to be not care about animals, however with even a few presentations we can change some attitudes of children. I will also be promoting the programs and shelter, hopefully raising some adoption rates.

I am holding a raffle in school and placing collection cans all over my town to raise money for this cause.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), with more than 1.8 million members and supporters, is the largest animal rights organization in the world. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds and other "pests," and the abuse of backyard dogs. PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

Hi! My name is Rachael I am 22 years old from New Jersey and I am an Animal Rights Activist! I want to start a project to enlighten those without the knowledge about animal rights and help find a way to end animal cruelty in the process I will be keeping a journal on my journey of speaking to the community and peoples ideas to help educate people about animal welfare and why and how animal cruelty happens and what they can do to prevent it and report it when they see it happening. With this knowlegde not only will I make a difference but others can as well. I want to encourage others to help at shelters and rescue groups and give the knowlegde and love for animals I have to others. People want to save things they love! And sadly animals cant speak that is why we have to be thier voice!! That is why I am starting the project called We Are Thier Voice! Please it doesnt matter what state you live in we can all make a difference together, my visions are to travel as much as possible and try to get my message out! Without your help I wont be able to do this. If you are interested in helping please comment me with ideas and include your name so I can place it in the journal and you get the appropriate credit and acknowledgement for your ideas. I plan to hold a little meeting for this project in New Jersey in the Ocean\Monmouth County area in early January of 2008 at a local library or something to take in ideas, suggestions, and speak of my purpose and my ideas. I also ask those that are very serious in helping keep a journal as well as to what they do and where they go and when they are finished with each journal to turn it in to me at meetings to compile it in with the main journal for publishing just make sure your name and hometown and state are in the cover so you will get proper credit for your efforts. I am going to pay out of my pocket to get the journal published at the end of 2008, and plan on doing one each year. I will also like to start fundraisers and charities and small art fairs and so on to raise money for local shelters and the ASPCA in Manhattan, Ny. please comment asap if you are interested in my project and want to help. I would like to get this Project up and off the groud today and will start my journal today after my visit to a local shelter and plan on making dates with librarys and elementary schools to talk to children about animal rights and how to prevent animal cruelty!

Each month we volunteer at the Richmond SPCA. We do anything and everything, from helping out with the laundry to helping to socialize puppies. Volunteers also collect towels, leashes, collars and toys for the animals. We also bake dog cookies to the shelter animals as a special treat. During our Family Fun Day in April we have the SPCA come out with their adoption mobile and try to find homes for the dogs and cats. We also use a portion of the money raised through our Family Fun Day to help support the Richmond SPCA.

One day I had come from school and stopped by my friends house. When I left, I saw an abandoned little shed and I checked to go see what was in it. I was a little puppy in there and it looked scared. It was also alone and It looked hurt. Without being scared, I picked up the puppy and it was whimpering. it must have been scared not being used to humans. I took it to the closest shelter I could find. They were going to give it medical care. I was there during the whole process to make sure that he was alright. He had some troubles with his insides is what I figured out from the veterinarians. They have taken care of him and they put him in an animal shelter. After that day, i would always see him after school just to make sure that he was happy and that he was being treated right. He seemed more happier and more energetic and I was so glad to see that I saved a life a helpless animal. 3 weeks after that day, With my parents permission I adopted him for myself. I was so happy the day I got him because I knew he would be happy with me. I named him Rocky for being such a brave dog while I took him to the vet. Rocky is now 2 years old and happy and healthy. He is taken to the same vet that helped him with is problems often just to make sure he is alright. Rocky is healthy and he will always be in my heart. i will never forget the day that I saved his life. i feel good about myself. When an animal is in need, I promise that I will be there to help it, always!

I am with Lucky Puppy Rescue located in Denham Springs
La. The goal of our group is to take in sick and abandoned dogs and cats to heal them and find them loving forever homes. There are so many abuse and neglect cases here in our city and even more right outside out city limits. The shelter here in Denham Springs does not take animals outside of the city limits so there is a great need volunteers and funding. We are a small group of people and have been working so hard to change this problem. Spaying and neutering is our best way to slow down the number of unwanted animals. We really are doing the best we can but we really need help. We would like to to more like visit schools to help teach kids while they are young how important it is to care for animals in the proper ways. We would love to raise awareness and getting a grant would be the blessing we need to do it.

I am a 14 year old girl with a huge love of animals. In the past three years, I have convinced my parents to help me rescue animals. We currently have 8 pets we have rescued! (4 cats, 2 rats, a bunny, and a guinea pig). We are now trying to open an animal rescue for all those little critters who need our help!

I'd like to help and support the freedom of animals, who are kept locked up and are being used for testing. They deserve to have freedom and live like us humans. No one, and i mean no one would love to be put in a cage and be poisoned with medication and items that don't belong on animals. If one or more can stand up then we can shut these businesses down.
