I am currently volunteering at a brand new community resource home titled the House of Hope. The House of Hope of Ocean County, Inc. is a non-profit, interfaith organization which assists individuals and families achieve and sustain self-sufficiency.

Calendars for a Cause: Helping in Haiti!

We are making calendars to raise money to build a house in Haiti. The family that would live in the house is very poor and have had many misfortunes in their lives. The eldest son was born handicapped and his mother is often very ill. The mother's other son is in highschool. Not only is he an amazing English student, but he is the best student in the entire high school. The family is severely impoverished and our help would be a drastic improvement for their lives.

Students Aiding Indigent Families (SAIF)

2006 BRICK Award winner Ashley Gunn started Students Aiding Indigent Families (SAIF) after a mission trip to Africa the summer before entering 7th grade. SAIF is a not-for-profit organization which purchases foreclosed houses, repairs and remodels them, and works with urban families to purchase the homes below market value. Additionally, SAIF helps families to figure out a mortgage financing plan that works for them.
