With "Glee" actress Jane Lynch tending to hosting duties for the second straight year, big winners announced during the swanky ceremony included Olivia Wilde as Do Something Movie Star, Justin Bieber as Do Something Music Artist and David Beckham as Do Something Athlete.

The event honors celebrities who better the world through their activism. But one category salutes everyday people who are younger than 25; that winner will receive $100,000.

The Do Something! Awards honor not only top celebrity philanthropic efforts, but also young local heroes whose charitable endeavors reach people the world over. This year's ceremony, which was held Sunday and airs Thursday, August 18 at 9 p.m. EST on VH1, awards both stars and young activists tacking everything from hunger to refugee issues. Five young semi-finalists under 25 have the chance to win $100,000 for their cause. The winner will be announced Thursday.

Demi Lovato reportedly opened and closed her performance at Do Something Awards with a hiccup. Words are, the "Camp Rock" actress tripped when walking to the center of the stage and took a tumble again when making her exit after the performance was over.

Just like his footballer father, Brooklyn Beckham is shaping up to be a very handsome young man. And, also like his father, he is taking on some obscure style habits while he's at it. The 12-year-old joined his Dad on the red carpet at the Do Something Awards yesterday - sporting a familiar look.

Plenty was accomplished at the Do Something Awards on Sunday: A comeback performance from Demi Lovato, a healthy dose of Justin Bieber, a hosting dry-run for Emmys emcee-to-be Jane Lynch and some honoring of charitable youth all went down in Hollywood during the ceremony. The Do Something Awards, hosted again by "Glee" star Lynch, brought celebrities out to celebrate a young generation of leaders who care about causes such as special-needs kids, ending hunger and educating refugee children.

It's kind of difficult to understand what exactly the Do Something Awards are, but they somehow involve charity and community and improvement. Whatever the case, celebrities showed up looking nice at what is essentially the Nice People Awards. Read entire article and see more pictures here

If you happen to be watching VH1 Thursday night, you might recognize Carolee Hazard, a Menlo Park woman who turned a small good deed at Trader Joe's into a nationally recognized volunteer philanthropy, the 93 Dollar Club. You first heard about Hazard in the Merc in 2009, when she ended up lending a stranger with a lost wallet about $207 so she could pay for her groceries. The stranger sent Hazard a check for $300.
