The rapper and producer Wyclef Jean was honored last night by the World Hunger Year (WHY) Chapin awards for his efforts to fight hunger in Haiti. The event took place at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City.

Wyclef Jean is giving back to his fellow Haitians; the superstar rapper committed build a school in Haiti! With his well-known foundation, Yele Haiti, Wyclef wants to create, as he says, “something that’s sustainable for kids…It’s going to be called the Yéle Center. Hopefully I can start the fundraiser in six months…The next goal is to try to raise money so we can build a physical facility.”

Matt Damon, Wyclef Jean and David Arquette came out to support a One X One event last week which honored the Foundation's new partner, Feeding America. But the boys took it one step further by making a surprise visit on Thursday to one of Feeding America's agency food banks in San Francisco to help pack boxes.
