Many of the people who are sent to jail or prison leave their children at home for the police to carry off. They are then put in foster homes without any of their belongings. That means, none of their favorite foods, clothes or toys. CLAC gives them a chance to have things that feel familiar to them, when they need them the most.

This initiative is designed to help defend those who cannot afford to defend his or herself. The initiative acknowledges the barriers in the legal system that provide the wealthy with the best attorneys and the poor with the beginners. Therefore, the project aims to level the legal playing field by attempting to provide the under-represented with proper legal advice. This goal can be attained by setting a new system whereby criminal defense lawyers are required to take cases from people who cannot afford to pay.

After seeing the documentary film After Innocence I was moved to spread the word about the plight of the (probably) thousands of people (predominantly african-american men) across the US who are currently in jail for crimes they didn't commit. The more people who know about this horrible occurence, the more we can do to ensure DNA testing to every person who is in jail.
