The Youth Parliament of Canada (YPC) is the Official Voice of Canadian Youth to the Parliament of Canada. The YPC is structured in a way where 413 youth are engaged in and being educated on the Canadian Government System. The 413 Youth-Politicians are elected by youth from all across Canada through Voting on Demand which is a secure online voting system.
The Youth Parliament of Canada is structured the same way as the actual Government and consists of 105 Youth-Senators, 308 Members of Youth Parliament, and a Youth-Governor General. The Youth House of Commons and Youth Senate meet in person bi-annually and online monthly to debates bills and other agenda items that are currently on the table of the Federal Government of Canada and may even table their own motions/resolutions. The decisions made by the youth are then shared with MP’s and of course with the public.
The structure of the YPC is exactly like the Parliament of Canada but with a few minor adjustments. Elections will be held online and the Senate will be non-partisan.
The Youth Senate is comprised of 105 Youth-Senators who are appointed by the Youth-Governor General on he advice of the Youth-Prime Minister. The Youth Senate is responsible for approving any recommendations, proposals, and/or decisions of endorsement which are approved by the Youth House of Commons.
The Youth House of Commons is comprised of 308 MYP's who are elected by youth in their Federal Electoral District. The Leader of the youth party with the most votes will become the Youth-Prime Minister. The Youth House of Commons discusses and debates all issues which are currently on the table of the Canadian House of Commons pertaining to youth as well as any additional issues MYPs place on the table. The Youth House of Commons, after debate/discussion, will then formalize recommendations, proposals, and/or decisions of endorsement which will be presented to the MP’s for review, after they are approved by the Youth Senate.
