See It: The Community being helped
According to federal accident statistics, 79 Wisconsin drivers have been killed and 353 injured at railroad crossings in the last decade. While not all of these accidents have been the drivers' fault, the majority of these accidents are preventable.
I live near railroad tracks, and every day I see drivers completely ignoring crossing signals or even driving around lowered crossing gates, simply to beat the train and save a minute or two. I would like to start a campaign to increase driver awareness about the danger and inherent ignorance of these actions. The project would be limited to my city (of approximately 90,000 people) but it is very possible to expand the campaign elsewhere. The project will involve the use of posters, print advertisements, and possibly radio ads.
