Jonas Brothers
A Jonas wish
On Friday, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America honored the Jonas Brothers, Corbin Bleu, and the New York Yankees. They all received the Chris Greicius Celebrity Award for their ongoing support in granting the wishes of children with life threatening medical illnesses.
JoBros and friends hit the courts
Grass or clay? That's right – we're talking tennis! Tomorrow, the Jonas Brothers along with Demi Lovato, David Archuleta, Shontelle, and Nick Cannon will all be participating in Arthur Ashe Kids' Day (AAKD) – celebrating the ideals of humanitarianism and leadership through some games of tennis.
On the road with the JoBros: goats vs. dogs?
We know you might be thinking that the Jonas Brothers are about to kick off their Camp Rock 2 tour, and not a wild circus. But trust us, there are “goats” and “dogs” involved along the way. We heard that it’s all on the way to their concert in Connecticut, and there’s an inkling of do-gooding involved too...
2010 Do Something Awards Winners
We would like to give a big congrats to Jessica Posner for winning the $100k! We feel like a proud mother when we think about this young lady's accomplishments. Jessica hails from Middletown, CT and recently graduated from Wesleyan University just two years ago. During that time, Jessica went to Kenya and built the Kibera School for Girls through Shining Hope for Communities, an organization she co-founded with fellow Wesleyan student, Kennedy Odede.
In Kibera, which is the largest slum in Africa, 66% of the girls trade sex for food as early as age six and only 8% of women in Kibera ever attend school. Jessica's Kibera School for Girls is the first free school in Kibera and gives these girls the opportunity for a better life through education and employment. Jessica is giving these girls the power to live the lives they truly deserve. Congrats again Jessica! We can't wait to hear more about your accomplishments and success in the future!
For those of you who missed the show last night, we have the full list of this year's Do Something Awards winners.
Nominee Profile: Jonas Brothers
Moving on to Do Something Music Artists this week, this pop trio is nominated for their incredible work with their Change for the Children Foundation supporting diabetes awareness, the Special Olympics, and volunteerism. Last year, Nick went to the capitol to testify before the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee to support diabetes research. Joe paired up with Demi Lovato to record the song "Make a Wave" to raise environmental awareness and to raise money for the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund. And this past April, Kevin competed on NBC's "Minute to Win It" and won $250,000 for Change for the Children.
