Teen Summit 2008

In February of 2007 students from the Health and Science Academy at Eastern High School helped to facilitate the Citizens MPD 1D 2007 Crime Summit. The goals laid out were to work on global solutions to narcotics, nuisance crimes, robbery, and how youth in our communities are involved in these public safety issues. It was this last topic that peaked the interest of 10 dynamic Health Academy students from Eastern High School.

Agitecture After-School Initiative in Urbanism

At a time of renewal and accelerating development in the city of Newark, Agitecture aims to place urban planning tools in the hands of the city’s high school students with an innovative after-school program. Through our program, fifteen to twenty underserved high school students from Newark's central ward are exposed to historical and contemporary practices of urban planning (including valuable technology skills) in a twice-weekly classroom setting.
