The Key Club will be spending Earth Day at the local Nature Trail cleaning the trails and river. In the past Clean Sweeps we have found tires, a refrigerator, some metal parts, lots of paper/plastic, and fishing accessories. We hope to better our community and start the end of global warming. "We're Going Green!"

I am going to hold a doggy wash to raise money for the local Humane Shelter in my area.
We will have stations for washing and grooming and most importantly a donation station where the owners can donate money to the shelter.

Every school day, CHS students are transported to or from school either by bus or car. CHS runs a fleet of about 20 buses to transport bus riders from both CHS and CMS to thier homes. Each bus runs on either gasoline or diesel and most buses are more than 15 years old, making thier emissions high. The Clean Fuel initiative, sponsored by CHS EcoAction (http://chs.ecoactiononline.org) will work to change our current transportation. This will include converting diesel buses to run on biodiesel, made from the school's old vegatable oil, and adding emission control devices to existing gasoline buses. We will also begin a fundraiser to raise money to purchase a hybrid or electric school bus. More information to come!

The club at our school, W.A.R.R, (Wantagh Animal Rights & Recycling) is a wonderful club to join at our school, and its very helpful to the community. Every meeting we do something helpful to our enviornment. So far in this year, we have supplied every classroom with recycling bins, and have started a recycling program. We have also done trail cleanups to clean the litter scattered by our school and its surrounding area. Another thing our club has done was sell T-shirts to help save the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. For every 10 shirts we sold, we saved an acre. We are preparing to fill the year with wonderful recycling joy!!!!! With the $500 that we are hoping to win, we plan on promoting our recycling program even more. Our funds are limited, and this would help our school a lot. We hope that you pick our school!!!!!!!!!!

I Want To Be Healthy... And Stay Healthy!

Many people, in thier lifetime, wants to look a certain way and be healthy. Although those people may become healthy, they may not stay health. Some people slack off and become lazy. The key to attaining your goal is all mental. You have to have it set in your mind that you are going to stay healthy and have a positive attitude at all times to keep you going. I advise everyone to be healthy because it will reduce problems in your life and increase your life span. If you are healthy, or becoming healthier, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! If you're not very healthy, start excercising (maybe 2-3 times a week) and watching what you eat and see how much better you and your body will start to feel, physically and mentally.

I would like to get a group of volunteers to clean up the beach at Coney Island. There are broken glass bottles, candy wrappers, plastic bags etc. all over the beach. In addition to degrading the quality of people's experience at this beach, these pieces of garbage flow out into the ocean and choke animals to death. This would be a great way to meet friends who live in your neighborhood, save animals from the sea, and clean up the beach so people, including you, will have a better time there.

Bel Air Do Something ClubLimpiando la Comunidad Clean up the Community We at Bel Air's Do Something Club wanted to make our school a bit green and cleaner. We planned a Saturday Clean up Day at our school, so that it looks as great as us students that go to our school. At our event we had over 60 students, parents, teachers, school staff, after school staff and community members come help work at our school. We wrote grants all year long so that we could have tons of money to spend on crafts, painting and gardening supplies. At the event we planted tons of plants, painted stepping stones, mini-murals, crafts and planted a tree in memory of a staff member we lost this year. We had a great time and now are have lots of fruits and veggiesto enjoy. Plus, our school is full of bright colors.

We will Be cleaning up a park that is all dirt and mud and be putting in grass and filling in holes in the ground and tables so its safer for the dogs we will paint the tables yellow and adding a side painting in the center table paint dog prints on and we will try to add a water trough and screw it to the ground so dogs don't flip it and get the place all muddy i did this for my eagle project but the project did not work well but if we try hard and put slacker over the tables and tell the people what is with the changes are for then they will understand

TIP Teens got together and walked from one park to another [about 1/2-3/4 miles apart] and picked up trash in the parks and along the road. It was really fun because you got to meet new people and socialize, while helping the environment. A local news channel even did a feature story on getting it organized.
