Iraqi Hope By TakePride

Generation Iraq ----- Generation Iraq is one of the few Western charities still operating in Iraq. It was founded in 2006 by a remarkable woman named Tamara Quinn. Tamara is an Iraqi-American who almost immediately after the fall of Baghdad got on a plane and traveled to Iraq for the first time in 30 years to see if she could help Iraqis recover from the war and decades of oppression under Saddam Hussein. While there, Tamara co-founded a women’s rights organization, worked with the Coalition Provisional Authority, and over time, developed a special interest in assisting Iraqi children.

Youth Voices for Unity: Spectrum of Conversations

Imagine a City… where teens are valued and appreciated for who we are, no matter what! The community this project is helping is every citizen, visitor, and friend of the City of Alexandria. Through the project, we have three main goals that will affect every Alexandrian. First, the Spectrum of Conversations, or roundtable discussions, will be and open, honest, and comfortable environment where teens will be able to express our true feelings, emotions, and experiences in a setting designed to facilitate change and understanding.

Tau Beta Alpha

Tau Beta Alpha is a multi-cultural diversity fraternity located in Hastings, Nebraska at Hastings College. We started this fraternity about a year ago with a vision to make a change in our community. The goal is to teach people about all the different diverse groups which sometimes get overlooked in this city. Since our group mostly consists of students from the big city, it was slightly uncomfortable for us to come to rural Nebraska and adjust to the ways. We feel it's important to spread our word and hopefully make Hastings College and the community open to new ideas.

The Movement

The Movement was founded by witnessing the formation of student organizations at Temple University. The organizations were innovative in their ideas to unite people of different backgrounds. Unfortunately, such organizations only targeted the needs of a few, but required the help of many. Although these attempts were admirable, The Movement decided to take it one-step further... So, do you feel like you are able and ready to make a social change? Are you tired of remaining stagnant when things progressively get worse? The Movement is your chance for change!

Constructing a New Library

After a few short years and a substantial increase in our city's population the demand for the construction of a new library in our community was more necessary than ever. The capacity for the number of patrons in our current library was constantly being exceeded and the demand for more materials, services and programs had substantially increased. With the increasing usage of the library's services by children, youth, and adults, it was evident that many things were lacking in the current buildings outdated design and structure.

Healing Greensboro with the help of NCCJ

This was a segment in the local paper showing citizens how we can fix our local community through community meetings and individual leadership. Along with the News and Record, Greensboro, NC's newspaper, the National Conference for Community and Justice has teamed up with a few high school students to spread awareness about problems that are affecting our community. I was included in these events as one of the students that spoke out. I attended a leadership camp this summer to help improve my leadership skills and community interaction.

Youth Power!

Butte County is located north of Sacramento. In my community, there is a high percentage of youths drop outs in high school and there is a very small fraction of those who attend college. My goal is to start a youth committee through our Hmong Cultural Center here in Oroville. I want to create a youth center that is easy going and open after school and on weekends so that youths can hang out, study, and create positive networks. In here also, I want to create a committee of youths for youths.

Save Our Future. Stop Global Warming.

I think that people are too selfish. They see the words "global warming', and know that it is a really bad thing, but what are they actually doing to help prevent it? We the people are the ones who are bringing down our Earth and we the people need to join together, and make others aware of the effects of Global Warming. We can't just sit around and hope that it will all go away. It won't. Join the cause and save our one and only beautiful Earth.
