When I was returning home on leave from the military, I picked up three retired racing Greyhounds at a track near my former base and drove halfway across the country with them to their new homes. While the three slept comfortably on the back seat, I wondered if I could make more of this happen on a larger scale. TruckerBuddies was born at a truck stop in Tennessee. What if there were a way to link overburdened shelters with others who had room-- what if there were a way to link volunteers to the two?
