The SLUG Project

S.L.U.G. (Student-Led Unity Garden) is an organic, sustainable garden located on the University of Portland’s campus in North Portland. The SLUG Project was started in 2006 by a small group of dedicated UP students, and the garden was built in the spring of 2007.

Winnemucca Community Garden

“Anyone who can get something to grow in northern Nevada has got a green thumb.” This local saying has more than a bit of truth to it. I live in a land of extremes—hot, dry summers and bitingly frigid winters—where the native plants have only managed to exist through extreme adaptations.

4-H Tae Kwon Do Club

Our club is a free program open to middle school students at Westwood Middle School in Spring Lake Park, MN. This club is youth run, and promotes healthy living and an active life style for youth in the community. The kids learn the martial art of Tae Kwon Do, as well as learn different skills and tools for leading a healthy life. In addition to the physical activity, they engage in cooking and nutrition activities, as well as participate in service-learning projects.
