See It: The Community being helped
I'm 17 years old and I'm at the highest level of American Sign Language at my school. I'm the secretary of my schools ASL Honor Society and have seen clips of Deaf Performances and witnessed Rathskellar (a Deaf Dance/Show group) as well as signed interpreted songs and written and performing poetry of my own.
After seeing a news showing on "The Big River", which was the first and, as far as I'm aware, show put on that incorporated both beautiful music and sign language, written for this, not interpreted. This inspired me to possibly take my hopes of becoming a music teacher to a new level, and possibly teaching Deaf children how to play musical instruments or even participate in something similar to "The Big River" or Rathskellar.
I have no idea really how to get this started, so if anyone has any ideas whatsoever, I'm in the New York/Long Island region and will be attending school in Virginia in the fall.
