See It: The Community being helped
Through these visits, our club is trying to improve the lives of unwanted animals.
Believe it: Describe your project/org
Seven of our club members were able to make it to the visiting day in June. We were able to play with a few of the dogs and take a tour of the shelter, but that was mostly it. In August, we plan to take another trip, and take on the full volunteer experience.Build it: Steps taken to create the project/org and the kind of impact made
Since this is our first club activity besides the meetings, we're just trying to figure out what we are passionate about. Our club has many different interests, and we're attempting to sample each of them to get a better idea of what we want to do. To start out, we wanted to volunteer. We first got in contact with a Humane Society representative to ask if there would be any available time for our group to come in and volunteer. Most of their spots were filled up, but they allowed us to come in as visitors and play with the dogs who were not likely candidates to be adopted. We made a follow up appointment for our club to come in at a different time, so we would be able to volunteer properly. Project Updates:
June: That day was pretty good. We were expecting a little more to do I think, but it still was a great experience. We met several of the dogs, and a very friendly employee who was working in the kennels was kind enough to let us play with some of the dogs who weren't as lively as the others, the ones who were most likely not going to be adopted, or who had been there the longest. August: Coming soon.
