Squish Video Games

Squish is a kid rock band from Vancouver, WA ages 12-15 years old. They are sending a message to their peers across the United States and playing concerts up and down the West Coast, about the dangers of an anti-sedentary lifestyle. Their song, "Personal Space Invader" is about how their friends are in their basements playing video games or watching t.v and how they want to be free from the t.v and are out playing in the sun, riding bikes, water skiing and doing all these fun activities. To hear this song, go to www.myspace.com/squishrocks

Happy Healthy Hearts

According to the NIH, 2/3 of American adults are currently overweight, and 1/3 of American adults are obese. This is happening because of bad eating habits and a lack of exercise, and it's only going to get worse as these habits are passed along to their children, unless we do something about it.

Game Day

In Hudson, FL toward the northern half of Pasco County, we are located just across from a elementary, middle and highschool complex. After school we must get about 150-200 kids on Fridays. We are not sure why the huge numbers, butby the looks, these teens are simply looking for something to do. Little that we are budgeted for could even come close to interesting to this age group. With this grant we could get some video game systems and keep these teens interested with something they are familar with. Much cheaper than building a skate park, this would aid us in so many ways.

Guitar Hero Competition

This money would be used to purchase the game Guitar Hero and its accessories. This is for the Grayslake Youth Center NFP, Inc, a new teen center serving kids ages 12 to 18. We are a stand alone non-profit, designed by a group of high school seniors and we have brought it to reality. We envision having Guitar Hero competitions on Wednesday nights with prizes for the winners. A semi-final event would be held monthly and finals every quarter with the prize increasing as students progressed. This grant would provide the funding to make this possible.

The Other side of the Screen: a video game design conference for teens

Urban Electronics is a non-profit organization which advances the knowledge of the game industry.

In this day and age with technology dominating all or most markets, the entertainment industry has swung towards video games. The market targets almost all ages but it is teenagers where the most interest and innovation can come from.

Many teenagers state that they have the best idea for a videogame, yet its never pursued. Urban Electronics captures those ideas and allows them to explore the videogame industry.
