Hot on the heels of Drew Barrymore's insanely awesome personal donation toward the World Food Programme comes a show of star-quality gratitude.

Cameron Diaz called in to OPRAH WINFREY's talk show from a film set in Los Angeles on Monday to pay tribute to her best friend DREW BARRYMORE's generous $1 million charity donation. Barrymore was on the show to present the cash to the United Nations World Food Programme, and her donation and footage of the actress in Africa, helping starving kids, led Diaz to reach for the phone. Calling in to her thrilled pal, Diaz said, "I've been listening to this show and literally I'm choked up because... I'm so proud of this information that she's (Barrymore) giving the world... It's unprecedented. "Learning about how our children are living in the world is devastating and the truth that is being spoken there is so important for people to hear and I'm just so proud of you Drew." An obviously moved Barrymore responded, "That's my best friend, man." (source)

With the rise of green awareness, more celebs are getting hy! Hybrid cars, that is. Most recently, Famke Janssen has been spotted cruising around in her hybrid car. Other celebs that have joined The Hybrid Club include Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Billy Joel, David Duchovney, Woody Harrelson, Will Ferrell, Jeremy Piven, Adrian Grenier, and Jay Leno.

Edward Norton just got the keys to a new BMW Hydrogen 7 as part of BMW's "Pioneer Program," which is giving their luxury hydrogen-powered rides to various celebs.

Ed Norton is also part of the BP Solar Neighbors program where every time a celeb purchases a BP Solar electric system for their home, BP donates a similar system to a low-income family's home in Los Angeles. Other Solar Neighbors include Don Cheadle, Danny DeVito, Will Ferrell, Daryl Hannah, Brad Pitt, Carlos Santana, Alicia Silverstone, Rob Thomas, Robin Williams, and Owen Wilson. source

Cameron Diaz is spreading her green knowledge as guest editor for National Geographic Kids first ever "Green Issue."

In the issue, she gives everyday tips for living an eco-friendly lifestyle. Diaz drives a hybrid, doesn't let the water run, and is careful about plastic wrap,

"I can go a year on just one roll of plastic wrap. I wash it after I use it, but I also do things like put a plate over a bowl instead of plastic wrap." (source)

Some eco-friendly stars seem to be pairing up these days . . . and not just for publicity's sake.  Long-time environmental enthusiast Cameron Diaz has been spotted getting lovey-dovey with singer -- and recent "green" activist -- John Mayer a whole heck of a lot lately.  Seems that those who recycle together stay together.

In other couple news, there are some icky rumors floating around that enviro-friendly hunk Adrian Grenier is courtin Paris Hilton. Rumor has it that he is teaching her a thing or two about environmenalism and green living.  Let's hope the lessons stop there.  (Sorry to be a hater, Paris, but I still haven't seen you holding true to your post-rehabilitation promises . . .)
