Singer Katy Perry may have raised some brows with her scandalous song “I Kissed a Girl”, but apparently she’s actually much chaster than it may seem. People reported yesterday that her beau is none other than Gym Class Heroes singer Travis McCoy.

“We’re going to spend the whole summer together,” McCoy said at a recent record release party in Los Angeles. When asked what he likes about his girlfriend, McCoy said, “She’s super hot, for one. But when I first heard the song, I was like this is going to be a smash. The next thing you know it’s No. 1 on iTunes.”

Regarding their recent promises made to one another, McCoy recently bought Perry a diamond ring, but he insists it’s only a “promise ring.” She wears it on her left middle finger, and McCoy revealed that he has his own ring too. His is a silver band with “Katy” engraved on it. When asked if this was just practice for an actual proposal, McCoy shrugged… with a grin. Obviously it seems by this sly response that McCoy could potentially have marriage on his mind for the future, but if that’s the case, what’s the point of a promise ring anyway? Why are promise rings even necessary if an engagement is soon to follow?

However, this specific promise ring is not to be confused with the Jonas Brothers promise rings or purity rings, who have revealed that their promises are to remain virgins till their wedding night. So it seems then that there are two types of promise rings: one is a promise that you make to your partner to continue to be with them for an indefinite amount of time, and the other is a promise that, as Jonas Brother Joe puts it, “promises to ourselves and to God that we’ll stay pure till marriage.”

We think both are great ways of promoting safe sex, whether it's with one partner or through abstinence. What are YOUR thoughts on these two types of promises??

We love the Jonas Brothers for their amazing work with their Change for the Children Foundation, which supports programs "that motivate and inspire children to face adversity with confidence, determination and a will to succeed," according to their website. They've also worked to combat juvenile diabetes, which has touched the life of Nick. And the guys teamed up with Do Something to make a PSA to raise awareness about teen homelessness.

Still, nothing could have prepared us for their live show last night.

After graciously greeting an endless flow of VIPs of all ages with hugs (CGG included!), the superstar siblings opened Z100 New York's Zootopia with a heart-pumping, show-stopping set. Nick, Joe and Kevin took turns running from stage left to stage right and back again, creating a scream-filled frenzy at East Rutherford, NJ's Izod Arena that was downright deafening.

If you weren't there, have no fear: CGG braved the army of paps in the photo pit to make you feel like you were there. (Good thing there were medics standing by!)

The White House Correspondents Dinner is an annual event in honor of the media that covers the Presidential beat. But those in the know go for two things: to see which media outlet brings the biggest star, and to see how tough the Prez gets it from the comedian du jour.

It's too early to say re: the latter (who happens to be late-night talk show host Craig Ferguson). But Celebs Gone Good has an early report on, well, the celebs of course!

Most Glam: Marcia Cross of Desperate Housewives (People mag editor Larry Hackett's date for the evening) in an Oscar-worthy strapless to-the-floor gown. Her hair was swept up, leaving her alabaster shoulders on display. Sexy and classy.

Most Regal: John McCain's mother, Roberta McCain, also a People guest, was pretty much the most popular guest in the pre-dinner People suite. Although, she didn't appear to know the next two...

Most Out-of-Place: Heidi and Spencer. The Hills couple were looking cute though. After meeting Mamma McCain, Spencer said, "Now I'm voting for John McCain because I love his mom!"

Heidi was so sweet, telling CGG about her work with UN World Hunger. (Spencer was a guest of Fortune.)

Most Wanted: Jonas Brothers. The mostly adult crowd were so rabid to get pix and 'graphs that the Bros were forced into a private room!

Btw, the People mag guests were escorted by Big Rob, Britney's ex bodyguard. We love him!

Most Down-to-Earth: Jen Garner and Ben Affleck entered the room sans bodyguard or an entourage of any kind. Love them!

The Jonas Brothers couldn't be hotter right now, and they have some big fans over here at Do Something.  Remember this message they sent out to you?

Last March, youngest band member Nick Jonas spoke up at a charity fundraiser for the Diabetes Research Institute's Carnival for a Cure.  He told the crowd that the cause was very close to his heart . . . In fact, Nick was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two years ago.  Since going public, he has made a point of raising money and awareness about diabetes and helping to contribute when and where he can to national organizations fighting the disease.  (source)

It takes guts to be so open and honest about a personal struggle.  As their fame continues to grow, it's nice to think that awareness about the issue will likewise grow amongst youth in this country.
