Feed the Forgotten is a project created by the Heroes Of Tomorrow that with the grant may be able to start this summer. Feeding over 100 people in Found. for Homeless will be what this club achieves and will even commit to doing this once every week. However, feeding the less fortunate is a fraction of what we're doing. We will also do clothing drives and give to the homeless. Interacting and facillitating positive interactions are what this project will execute. Communication allows for friendships to be created and we will capitalize on the power of friendships which can act as bandaids to harsh realities. Just to know that somone on the other side of the table cares and change a world, can make an impact. Feed The Forgotten is becomming a campaign with many very impacting projects.

Project Description

Mama Tina’s Resource Center seeks to meet the needs of impoverished children who have been orphaned or abandoned because of a variety of uncontrollable circumstances in Kisumu, Kenya. Mama Tina provides basic needs (food, shelter, education and health care) to these children. With these basic needs met these children will have an opportunity to become successful members and leaders of society.

Current projects that we are working on include:

• Providing housing & education to orphans (currently provided for 45+ children).

• Providing at least 1 meal a day to over 100 people in the surrounding area.

• Helping young women who have been subject to abuse.

We are currently trying to expand by building wells to provide clean water for more people. It costs around $10,000 to build. Clean water reduces the chances of people contracting diseases such as cholera, malaria and dysentery.

We have many fundraisers we are currently undertaking and welcome any additional ideas. All proceeds from the current fundraisers will go directly to building these wells.
We will be holding a Mother’s Day Flower sale where we will be selling potted tulips along with a mixture of other assorted flowers. If you would like more information please feel free to contact us.

Project Description

Because of extreme poverty, children are sold on the streets of Hyderabad, India for $10-15 and used as laborers in fields and factories, prostitutes in brothels, and human sacrifices in Hindu temples. The male/female ratio is off because parents kill their infant daughters rather than face paying a wedding dowry in the future. The Banjara Tribe is particularly vulnerable, as they are considered "untouchables" in the culture, 90% of them are illiterate, and most are born into the debt bondage that has enslaved their ancestors for generations. Banjara Tribal Ministries (BTM) Orphanage began in 1994 when Christopher and Rambai Boda, a Banjara couple, took five abandoned children into their home to feed, educate, and minister to them. Today they care for more than 1950 children, and they turn away hundreds each year. Banjara Tribal Ministries is working to pull their entire tribe out of their desperate conditions by rescuing, loving, educating, and training thousands of youth to change their world.

Lifeblood is a student group at Bryan College in Dayton, TN that has partnered with Banjara Tribal Ministries and ZLB Plasma Services in Chattanooga, TN to provide financial support for as many orphans as possible. It costs $25 to provide food, clothing, education, safety, and discipleship for a child at the BTM orphanage. Lifeblood transports students donate blood plasma at ZLB Plasma, ZLB reimburses the students, and Lifeblood sends the money to India.

That's Lifeblood. We encourage and empower students to make a difference around the world RIGHT NOW while they are still broke, and we help them form a lifelong habit of sacrificial giving. We started this October, and by mid-March we have already raised over $6,000. We hope to raise $10,000 by the end of the school year. Concerts for Humanity is a student-run organization at Long Beach Polytechnic. The objective of this club is to raise funds to aid world poverty and victims of AIDS. We do so by organizing benefit concerts and other events. All the proceeds will be part of the efforts to end world poverty and AIDS. We also aim to inform the student body about this much needed cause. We stress the importance of giving to those less fortunate than we are. We work with the ONE Campaign, Bread for the World, World Vision and their partners. Currently, we are sponsoring a boy named Marvin Vindel in the Honduras. Why? Because we have the power to change lives and give hope to those who need it most.

My name is Taylor Joyner. I am a freshman in Phoenix, Az. I am also a junior board member and co-founder of a non profit called Kitchen on the Street. KOS works with Arizona schools to give food to children in need. Kids on the schools food programs sometimes go hungry on weekends. KOS gives packbacks of food (Bags of Hope) to these kids. We ALWAYS needs people to host food drives for the items we include in Bags of Hope.

Give a Dollar, Save a Life started as an idea two summers ago. I wanted my family and I to sponsor a family in poverty, but I felt like that wasn't enough- there had to be a way to help more than four or five people. Instantly, my overpopulated high school came to mind. Attending a high school with 3000 kids (the second largest in CT!) can be a challenge, but it would be perfect for this project. With only one dollar from every student, we could sponsor ten children, and therefore benefit an entire community!
I hooked up with my friend Maria who's from Ecuador, and she suggested that we give our profits to her homecountry. Over the past few months we've been advertising, talking with administrators, connecting with WorldVision (our sponsoring company) and contacting communities in Danbury. This week, fundraising starts! Hopefully, with the $3,000 we anticipate, we'll provide an Ecuadorian community (ten families, to be specific) with vaccinations, food, clean water, schooling, and animals. In the following months, we're looking into getting local businesses involved and maybe hosting an all-Spanish concert/dinner at the local Ecuadorian Center.

Change for Change is a campaign brought on by HERO: a UNA-USA campaign. The HERO campaign is in partnership with the USAID. It is an awareness building and fund raising initiative dedicated to providing comprehensive, school-based support to orphans and vulnerable children living in HIV/AIDS-affected communities in Africa. UNA-USA stands for the United Nations Association of the United States of America. It is a center for innovative programs to engage Americans in issues of global concern. It's educational and humanitarian campaigns, along with its policy and advocacy programs, allow people to make a global impact at the local level. A non-profit organization, UNA-USA encourages United States leadership in the United Nations. Education is the key to a child's future, but for orphans and vulnerable children, schools play a far greater role than academic learning. Schools become a place to not only get an education, but a place where children can receive a meal, drink clean water, receive counseling and learn life building skills that will ultimately serve their own community. The Hero program works in Ethiopia, Namibia, South Africa, and Zambia. Hero schools can range from 50 to 900 students at a school. Change for Change is my fund raising technique for the Hero campaign. Change for Change collects small amounts of donations. If 100 people gave a nickel a day for 365 days, that would equal $1825. That amount of money could save an entire village from harshness of extreme poverty. With that money, one could build a school and still have money for supplies. "Education is the most powerful weapon you can uste to change the world", said Nelson Mandela. Heroes are born and made... find the HERO in you. Be a champion for change!

The Concept:

There would be a building with 5 rooms.
One of the rooms would be a big living facility... with capacity for atleast 25 people
The other rooms would be classroom style rooms for the participants. In these rooms the participants would attend the classes necessary to get their GED. The teachers for these classes would most preferably be volunteer teachers from surrounding school and colleges. The classes would be mandatory for the people staying at the facility. The people staying there would also be required to obtain a job no matter how small that they would work during the day (preferably this could be worked out with surounding businesses prior to this so that the jobs would be there for them). Now the goal for them is to obtain their GED and save money for college courses. That brings me to the point that the candidates would be required to save every penny earned in their jobs, because everything else would have been provided for them. They will also have to attend courses after their graduation from the program that would pertain to a job they hope to attain.

Of course scholarships would be saved for any who became accepted into a college. The hope is that by educating and saving the participants will not recieve any hand outs but actualy better themselves and be able to get on their own feet again.
