See It: The Community being helped
This money would be used to purchase the game Guitar Hero and its accessories. This is for the Grayslake Youth Center NFP, Inc, a new teen center serving kids ages 12 to 18. We are a stand alone non-profit, designed by a group of high school seniors and we have brought it to reality. We envision having Guitar Hero competitions on Wednesday nights with prizes for the winners. A semi-final event would be held monthly and finals every quarter with the prize increasing as students progressed. This grant would provide the funding to make this possible.
Background: We spent 4 years raising $100,000, one dollar at a time. We now have a building which is being remodeled. All labor has been volunteered. We are focused on providing a safe and sane environment where teens can be themselves. We will have live music on weekends, study areas and snack areas. The Guitar Hero program is a very important component of our center. In fact, our very first fund-raiser was an Air Guitar contest!
Thank you for doing all you do in the communities.
