Alternative Energy

Alternative Energy Awareness Project

The Environmental Club at my high school, Mounds Park Academy, is raising money to purchase a 1.4 kW solar array and corresponding educational materials. The panels would be installed in a highly visible location on school grounds and would help to increase awareness about environmental issues in the school and surrounding communities, and to shape students into environmentally conscious young adults.

Help change how companies think about the environment!

Everyone here knows what's going on with the environment today is a big problem, but many corporations and corporate executives still don't understand the problem! We just created a new service call EcoUnit.com to get your voice and opinions about the environment heard by corporate leaders. EcoUnit lets companies poll environmentally concerned consumers like yourself on what you think about their current green initiatves. Every poll you take will directly be influencing how companies actually treat the environment!

Community Wind Power

This project first began when I was in the eigth grade. It was my first year in independant study and I had decided that I didn't want to Earth Science, but Oceanography and Environmental Science. I took the Environmental Science class in my second semester and learned about alternative energy source about ahlf way through it. I was truly captivated by the class and even more captivated by wind energy. I began to wonder why we even bother with fossil fuels to power our homes and why we have to pay so much for energy.

Energy Independence

Dear Friend, Traditionally, Hopkins High School Earth Club has been a student-run organization focused on spreading environmental awareness throughout our school district. This year, we have decided to take our passion for the earth one step further by initiating a project on energy independence with goals to install one or more forms of alternative energy at the school. We believe that climate change is too pressing of an issue to leave in the hands of Washington.
