Heal a Woman to Heal a Nation Conference

Founded in 2004, what started as a pamper party turned into a day of empowerment and prestige. Created by college seniors, April 2004 marked the birth of The Heal a Woman, Heal a Nation (HWHN) conference held at Morgan State University sponsored by Vivian Ryan and the Office of Student Activities. The conference’s goal was to aid in fostering a relationship between collegiate women and women in the surrounding community. It persuaded its participants to look to each other and to become the vanguard for positive change within their communities.

Women Of Color Organization

I started a organization that engagedother young ladies with one another. To intertwine with one another and start a sisterhood that would last forever. My mission to young ladies is to start a sisterhood, a bond, a movement. To show respect to one another and our elders as well. The organization reinforces core values of trust and support. The organization challenges teen girls to resist negative social pressures and enhances self empowerment and inspiring girls to become confident leaders in their community.

A Healthier Sisterhood

This is my plan for our college community to help prevent the increasing rates of obesity in minorities, junk food living with college students and the perception that females have on their body image and how healthy eating can help prevent such physical and mental distasters. As a senior student attending Norfolk State University in the year 2008 i would like to implement a plan to help decrease the number of female minorities that are suffering from obesity and depression.
