Project Description
More than 6,000 teens die every year in America, as a result of car accidents. Thousands of other teens sustain serious injuries or are permantly disabled in car accidents. These car accidents cost states, billions of dollars each year. The cost of these accidents in Pennsylvania during the year 2006 amounted to 8.9 billion dollars. Teen car accidents are often thought to be caused by alcohol or speeding, but the truth is that alcohol is a factor in only 21 percent of teen deaths. The true problem is we, the youth of America, are inexperienced and do not truly know how to drive. Although current regulations in most states restrict certain aspects of driving and require parental supervision, these current laws are not enough. What our country truly needs is to train our drivers and there is a way to do that. Through simulation training, a program much like the one used by pilots to learn to fly with. You would never allow a pilot to just to fly without experience, with an airplane it would be dangerous just as dangerous as allowing teens that have no idea what they are doing to get behind the wheel. Not only do I think this will work I know it will in Georgia they have already begun this program with simulators in 80 out of a 180 schools there and their teen fatality rate in car accidents has gone down 5% for teens 16-18 and 9% for young adults 19-24. It is important to do everything we can to help our youth and keep them safe there are many areas that are out of our control, however, this particular issue there is a definite solution to the continuous loss of life, which is attainable. I believe we must stop teens driving to their deaths.

He has an account with Blood Source for our Church, and four times a year, we have a blood drive at Church. All of the units of blood from that drive and whoever else donates outside of our drives, is put into our account. Anyone in our Church who needs blood has access to the Church account. That includes a six-year old girl who attends church with her parents. This past year, ('07), she was diagnosed with leukemia. We had a blood drive in honor of her. Thankfully, she is now in remission, but will still have chemotherapy treatments and blood transplants for the next (at least) 2 years. She couldn't be doing as well as she is without blood donated from people who want to make a difference in the world. You can join that cause. Donate Blood. It helps everyone, including you, sooner or later. Blood Source website:
