This isn't the first community service-centic award show for youth to be supported by Viacom — the Do Something Awards aired earlier this year on VH1 — and if the MTV Research team keeps coming up with findings that reinforce generational social consciousness, we might see more celebrations of real teens doing good to come.

American Idol producers just announced the return of Idol Gives Back, the televised event that raises awareness and funds for various charities around the world. Viewers can make donations during and after the show, which will also be an AI results show, and one of the finalists will be sent home.
