See It: The Community being helped
At the beginning of January, I got together a group of friends to put together a project to promote hybrid cars in our community. I noticed that compared to the San Francisco area, where I visited during winter break, there aren't as many hybrid cars being driven. I decided to do something about this. Team K4A consists of me (Kaitlyn), Kimber, Katherine, Keegan, and Albert, hence the name K4A. All of us are eight graders who attend Shahala Middle School. We also consulted our science teacher, Mrs. Trevarthen.
We contacted McCord's Vancouver Toyota to set up a program with them so that people who buy hybrid cars or get their hybrid repaired at McCord's will receive a window cling that we designed that has our team logo, our website link, and the phrase,"I K4A Better World, With my Hybrid Car," Our website, www.teamk4a.tk , contains information about the environmental benefits of earth friendly cars, car comparisons, and simple ways that everyone can contribute to help the environment. Our website is up and running, the window clings have been printed, the project is now done, and hybrid car customers at McCord's Vancouver Toyota can now receive a window cling! Recently, our local newspaper, The Columbian, printed an article on our project! The online version can be found at http://www.columbian.com/news/localNews/2008/03/03262008_Student-group-sings-hybrids-praises.cfm .
