I started a Youth in Action Group with a couple of friends to try and make a difference in the world. We call ourselves "Outside The Box." We now have more than 25 members in New Jersey and friends in Texas starting a chapter. Our initial project is to raise $8,500 to build a school in Sierra Leone, Africa through a charity called Free The Children. Free The Children is the worlds largets network of kids helping kids through education. We chose Sierra Leone because of the United Nation's statement that it is the worst place in the world to live and we wanted to help change that.
We were also concerned about the current war in DR Congo and what was happening to the women and children there. Through Women for Women Internation, we are now sponsoring a woman from there so that she might make her life better for herself and her children.

MLOC is a non profit organization that has within 3 years implemented 4 wonderful programs for every member of the family starting from age 4 and up. As our underlying mission across the board is to promote unity amongst all people and to assist in giving back in every capacity possible, we are embarking upon a wonderful community event that will promote fitness and health awareness...It's a Boot Camp. This event will be held on July 12th @ Watkins Regional Park (MD) where everyone all ages will have the opportune time to join in for a phenonmenal workout. MLOC and Outreach Programs will provide information, bottled water and healthy snacks post exercise event. I believe this is a great way to promote unity as well as fitness/health. MLOC has embarked upon many community events as well as those self-implemented which have been very successful.

I started a chapter of Amnesty International at my high school last year. Our first fundraiser raised over $2500, and extended throughout the holiday season of 2006-2007. I wrote a letter that was distributed to my entire school, both faculty and students, asking for donations in lieu of a gift, in such a time of generosity and prosperity. We earmarked the funds for Darfur, and researched organizations that were most effective in their budgeting and utilization of money; we donated to CARE, Doctors Without Borders, and UNICEF. This year, in addition to that fundraiser, I initiated a project called Jamnesty. This was a benefit concert designed to raise awareness of the situation in Sudan, as well as raise money for aid. It was held at my school, and six local bands collaborated for a three-hour concert. There was a $5 cover charge for entrance fees, and donated food was sold as well. We raised almost exactly $1000, and it was a huge success. A lot of people were involved in planning it, carrying it out, and impacted by the informational posters we made. I also opened the event with a speech describing the crisis in Darfur, emphasizing ways in which students could get involved on their own. Although I am leaving for college, I hope that Jamnesty will continue as an annual event at my high school, and continue to raise both money and awareness.

The 29th Day Preventive Task Force is a Student Activist Group that is still in it's first year. Our slogan is Discussion - Education - Action. We seek to make our campus, our community, and our world a better place through several programs. Some of our efforts include:

Recycling Efforts - from picking up trash and recycling the salvagable materials to encouraging our peers, professors, and campus staff to recycle.

Educational Efforts - through phamplets, lectures, and direct contact at campus events, we're getting the message out to our peers and our comunity about recycling, saving energy, and living greener, cleaner lives. Also, we will be holding forums for college as well as local high school students, to generate dialogue about the issues, as well as brain-storming solutions and ideas for future projects.

We want to fight environmental un-awareness and passive activism, which have become all to common. We want to education our generation and the next, because the world is in our hands - it's up to us if the problems slip through our fingers.

We are hear to change the world little by little. I am only a 18 year old boy in the bronx. I know i could make a difference if i put my heart into it. This organization will help the poor people dying from starvation. This organization represents everything that is wrong with the system. We are not scared to fight and not scared for better changes. We will help the world and fight it if we must.

I started a club at my school called STAND to raise funds and awareness about the genocide in Darfur. We are going to send 90% of our proceeds to the Dollars for Darfur campaign. On May 24th we are having a benefit to raise money for Dollars for Darfur. There will be live bands, a short film, a speaker, food, and vendors.

Get all old cd's around house. Break up into different sizes. Get strong glue and make a decoration in a picture frame, on top of a table, around a vase...etc.

We would like to build a math garden for the students at watertown Elemntary School. It will provide a highly visual way of teaching math concepts. The garden will allow students with different learning styles to see a concrete representation of a mathematic idea. The garden will include: flowers planted in geometric shapes, a sundial, a thermometer, a rain gauge, a compass, a geometric peg board, a white board and a 10x10 tiled area to be used as a 100 chart.

We raise money to buy food or non perishable items to send to the starving and needy population in Haiti.
