See It: The Community being helped
The DYRS Shakespeare Project works to expose incarcerated youth in DC to Shakespeare and the arts, by running workshops on dramatic arts and preparing a group of incarcerated youth to preform a 30 minute production of a Shakespeare play at the annual Secondary School Festival at the Folger Shakespeare library in DC. While there is a tangible goal that is achieved each year, the project is primarily process based and works to provide art therapy and alternative forms of expression to juveniles struggling to break free of the system.
