Our youth department is sending out a team of 15 people to travel over seas to Mukwalantila, Zambia. We will giving AIDS training and running a sports camp for the children.Right now our youth department is trying to raise money to build a well for the village to get water from. Currently they have to walk 4 hours just to get enough water for one day. We are praying that when we go to Zambia we will see the well being used by the people and how much ease it brings to them.

For the fourth year in a row, Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA is serving with Touch the World Ministries, based out of Allendale, NJ to bring a team of students to Juarez, Mexico as an alternative spring break trip. We will continue on the final stages of construction on a school that was begun in 2005. Over 100 Mexican children are being sponsored by families in the US for $30 a month, an unthinkable price for such a poverty-stricken community. This community of Felipe Angeles used to be a garbage dump, and the families there have built their homes out of whatever they could find.

If I would have been asked a year ago to describe what I thought poverty was, I would probably compare it to one of those Feed the Children television commercials because I never had a firm idea of what poverty was. I knew that there were people who were poor in the world but I never wanted to let myself believe that anyone could have such a bad life; after all I had been blessed with so much. In November 2006 I was given the opportunity to go on a 16 day mission trip to Uganda, Africa.
