It seems waiting until marriage to have sex is a growing trend in Hollywood... Julianne Hough of Dancing With the Stars has jumped on board by sticking to her vow to remain a virgin until marriage. In an interview with CosmoGIRL magazine, the 19-year-old dancer says that the pressures in Hollywood are difficult to deal with, which is why she looks to her family for support.

Hough has had a difficult time dating in Hollywood, though, because she doesn't feel like she fits in.

"I tried to go out and mingle with people in the industry and date people, but I felt I was different than most of them. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs, so those things immediately separate me. It's all very enticing, though."

Hough, who broke off her engagement last year, wants to wait for that special person.

"I think [the choice] to have sex before marriage is an individual one, but if you're just with one person, it's only for one good reason, and [waiting to have sex] will strengthen that relationship. I'm not trying to preach consequences here, but I think when you say no, down the line it will be a better decision."

Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas have gone on the record about their commitment to virginity . . . at least until marriage.

This month's Details magazine has the story:

On a quiet Friday morning in a dressing room at Madison Square Garden, the Jonas Brothers hold out their hands to show off their purity rings. Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas—the teen-pop trio who stand, at this very moment, on the brink of hugeness—wear the metal bands on their fingers to symbolize, as Joe puts it, “promises to ourselves and to God that we’ll stay pure till marriage.” Joe is 18. His ring is silver and adorned with a cross. “It actually ripped apart a little bit, just on the bottom, here, but I didn’t want to get a new one, because this one means so much to me,” he says. Nick, who is 15, says, “I got mine made at Disney World. It’s pretty awesome.” Kevin, at 20, is the oldest of the three, and while a punk-rock purity ring from Tiffany might represent the ultimate oxymoron, that’s exactly what he’s going for. His silver vow of abstinence is covered with studs. “It’s pretty rock and roll,” Kevin says. “It’s getting banged up a little bit because of the guitar.” (source)

Whether abstinence is your thing or not, you gotta hand it to the guys for saying that they believe in something, despite the fact that it may not be "popular" or "cool", and standing by their words. I wonder if they realize that their conviction, courage and self-respect make them that much more attractive to all their lady fans who are disappointed by their annoucement, haha!

Nick doesn't deny that all the swooning girls are awesome but he says they have decided to wear the purity rings because they want to be good role models. The decision is "just one of our ways of kind of like being different than everybody else out there."

The decision to wait until marriage is personal-- both sides of the spectrum should be well thought out. I'm just hoping that The Jonas Brothers' very public decision doesn't blow up in their faces later.

Even if you weigh all the options, consider what your gut is telling you, and educate yourself about the risks, you may decide that waiting until marraige isn't for you. If that's the case, at least have the moxy to be safe (use protection! ask questions!) and to be open with someone in your life about the choices you're making. Nothing is hotter than someone with a backbone. Or a trio with backbones. Sigh . . .

Mega-companies Disney and Chevy have teamed up for the Chevy Rock the Future event, which will celebrate "promises" made to protect the enviroment. Disney.com took a Promise Tree poll where kids pledged to do something small to the preserve the environment. From the poll, 38% pledged to recycle plastic, paper and cans, 34% vowed to turn the lights off if not in the room, and 22% said they will turn the water off when brushing their teeth. These easy but difference-making tasks are the steps we all should take to protecting mother earth.

The Jonas Brothers will perform at the event to share their committment to the environment with other young people....And over 150 students who are "promising to live better" won tickets to the event through Disney radio and a Chevy educational campaign.

Everyone at the event will get to enjoy popcorn popped by a car using biofuel and a "hybrid" station that mixes chocolate and peanut butter. My hat is off to those party planners who somehow figured out a way to mix candy and cars!

We all know that the adorable Jonas Brothers have huge hearts.  They filmed this PSA for Do Something last year:

Yesterday they were awarded for their advocacy by the CosmoGirl! Born to Lead Awards.  After Nick Jonas was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2005, the band got behind the cause and has been active in spreading the word about the disease and its treatment.

It wasn't all business, though.  The trio spilled some beans about touring with Miley Cyrus.
