See It: The Community being helped
Last May, Oxford Academy FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and Non-Traditional Media started the Annual Dodgeball Tournament in the community to raise awareness and funds for STANDUP FOR KIDS-Orange County, a nationally acclaimed organization dedicated to the rescue of homeless and street kids. All proceeds benefit their on-going efforts to build a Youth Outreach Center in Orange County by the Fall of 2008.
For our past two tournaments, we have had teams from Cypress High, Kennedy High, Los Alamitos High, Whitney High, Servite High, Oxford Academy, Cal State Fullerton, Cerritos College, the City of Anaheim and even kids from local youth shelters. Our sponsors for the tournament include the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Clippers, Ralphs and Mitsubishi. The tournament has been publicized in the KISS FM Community Calendar, KCAL 9/CBS 2 Community Calendar, Orange County Register Community Calendar, and even been aired on television on KCAL 9.

Project Updates:
For our 3rd Annual Dodgeball Tournament, we have partnered with the Los Angeles Clippers to hold it at the STAPLES Center, on Saturday, March 22 of 2008. The tournament will take place from 12:30-3:30. From 3:30-5:00, we are planning an entertainment/pep rally area outside the stadium. We are currently speaking with KIIS FM to recruit celebrities to our event. From 5:00-6:00, we are speaking with the Clippers to give participants/spectators/volunteers a tour of the STAPLES Center. The Clippers game against the Portland Trail Blazers will start at 7:30. During a timeout or towards the end of half time, the executives of each participating organization, leaders from our district and the winning team of the Dodgeball Tournament will be brought on to the court for a check and trophy presentation.
