Pujehun Youth Center for Peace and Wellness

We are working for three months to build a Youth Center for Peace and Wellness in Pujehun, Sierra Leone. The community has been greatly affected by the country's ten-year civil war, and one of the groups most impacted has been the youth in the area. School dropouts, teenage pregnancies, violence, and sexually transmitted diseases are just some of the issues with which we are working. At the same time, there are countless cultural and traditional elements of the community that reveal its beauty and strength in the face of these challenges.

Spooktacular for UNICEF

This October, the Key Club of Pinnacle High School in Phoenix, Arizona, will host its second annual "Spooktacular for UNICEF," a Halloween-themed carnival that will raise money for UNICEF's service intiative, the Swazi Children Care Project.

HCAA’s goal is to enable African communities and families to support HIV/AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children through our initiatives which will ensure the underprivileged an improved quality of life.

Change for Change

Change for Change is a campaign brought on by HERO: a UNA-USA campaign. The HERO campaign is in partnership with the USAID. It is an awareness building and fund raising initiative dedicated to providing comprehensive, school-based support to orphans and vulnerable children living in HIV/AIDS-affected communities in Africa. UNA-USA stands for the United Nations Association of the United States of America. It is a center for innovative programs to engage Americans in issues of global concern.

My friend and I both felt motivated to make a difference in this world movement. We used the Senior Project as an opportunity to support such a cause. We hosted a variety show of many talents with all the proceeds gearing towards the Blood:Water Mission. You have nothing to lose, because every dollar you donate, you are giving one African water for a year. One dollar saves!

Youth Hope Organization's China HIV/AIDS Volunteer Trip

The Youth Hope Organization (YHO) is an Ann Arbor non-profit dedicated to volunteering within the university campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan, throughout the greater community of Michigan, and most importantly, overseas. Youth Hope is a grass-roots organization, established in April 2007 by four college students who had a vision of providing underprivileged Chinese children,especially orphans and those whose families cannot afford to care for them, with the much-needed educational materials and medical care.

Uyisenga N'Manzi

Uyisenga N'Manzi works with children and young adults who have become orphans and head of their households as a result of the Rwandan genocide and of HIV/AIDS. The majority of the beneficiaries of Uyisenga are also survivors of the Rwandan genocide and suffer from the consequences of witnessing and being victims of many atrocities.For these reasons, Uyisenga offers a comprehensive package to all of its beneficiaries. They receive mental health care but are also helped to achieve economic sustainability through the development of income generating activities.

Global ACCESS (AIDS Coalition for Civic Engagement and Smart Solutions) is a leadership development institute to promote civic participation and create a comprehensive communication hub for the global AIDS movement. Global ACCESS is a project of Health Global Access Project (Health GAP).

Global ACCESS is a new formation of old work. For years, as an organizer with Health GAP, I have been training low-income people living with AIDS in advocacy and community organizing skills and bringing them into the fight against global AIDS.

Staten Island HIV CARE Network

The Staten Island HIV CARE Network, funded by Ryan White Title II monies, is the coordinating council for HIV health and social services on Staten Island. It addresses the full continuum of care and support to individuals and families living with HIV disease.

The CARE Network is made up of health care providers, community based organization, persons living with HIV/AIDS and interested individuals.
