Purple Pinkie Project

The Purple Pinkie Project was initiated by Rotary International to stomp out the deadly disease, Polio, in third world nations. The idea was that members of Rotary and Interact clubs would go around local schools where students would become involved in the project and donate a dollar. One dollar is all it costs to vaccinate someone from Polio. To prevent people from getting a double dosage of the vaccination, Rotarians would dip the person’s pinkie in purple ink. To remind the student of how their dollar can save a life, their pinkie is painted purple as well.
