Building Bridges: Nicaragua: Fox Lane High School

At Fox Lane High School, we have a club called Building Bridges which works with Bridges to Community in Nicaragua. For years we have been sending students to Nicaragua to build homes for impoverished citizens of the country. This year was the first year it had become a club in our school, instead of an out of school trip. It has been a great success and this year, in April of 2008, we are sending 22 people to Nicarauga.

Water Safety

My high school swim coach my sophmore year asked if I would be willing to help her on Saturday mornings at the Y with the Special Olympics Aquatics Team. I thought okay I'll do this because it'll look good for college. After a few practices I realized that what I was doing wasn't just for college, I was helping people overcome a fear of water and learn to swim. I was making a difference in someone's life. I have been a Girl Scout since I was six and I knew that I wanted to earn my Gold Award.
