Project Description
Shed Your Fears - Reptile Education is a program that I started to educate people of all ages the value of reptiles. Many people think that snakes are vile, evil creatures that are just out to get us. In my program, I give people the chance to see, touch, and learn about snakes, lizards, as well as other reptiles and amphibians. The best way to teach someone about something, is to allow them to have hands-on experience. Children are the next generation, if I can teach them that these animals are important to our ecosystem, maybe they will grow up to be the conservationists and biologists that save these animals. Snakes have had a bad rap since the beginning of time, and I intend to change that. I volunteer at schools, youth group centers, parties, art shows, and anywhere else I can spread the good word of reptiles. Visit my website at: http://www.freewebs.com/shedyourfears/

Do Something! Get Involved
When doing reptile education, or any animal education, you must have patience. People may not want to learn because their fear is so deeply engrained. The idea is to help them to "shed their fears," not fuel it. Remember, be understanding and allow people to come out of their shells on their own time, do not force people to interact with animals that make them uncompfortable.
