Project Description
This year, we held our first annual Charity Powder Puff Game. As captain of my school’s cheerleading squad, we collaborated with our rival school to have our two cheerleading teams play each other in a game of basketball. We sold tickets competitively so that for every 10 tickets the squad sold ($40), the squad gained 2 bonus points. I was able to organize the even so that everyone’s time was donated (announcers, chaperones, ticket sellers, referees…). On top of that, we sold concessions in exchange for donations.
It was an extremely fun and entertaining event! We made our own uniforms, we were coached by the captains of our boys’ basketball team, our girls’ basketball team cheered us on and made their own half time dance, and the cheerleaders even had a dance off during our half time!
In the end, we were able to raise $953! The charity we chose to donate the money to was the Special Olympics. We definitely plan to continue this Charity event in the years to come. We would like to choose a new charity each year and we can only hope that it will grow. I plan to encourage other schools to follow suit.
