Chapa 5K Challenge

The Chapa 5K Challenge is an initiative to promote lifelong fitness for school age children and their families. This event culminates a semester long after school fitness program provided to all students at Chapa Middle School. The fitness club has 70 active members. We educate our students on the importance of lifelong fitness and wellness techniques in order to help them utilize these skills in their every day lives. Proceeds from the Chapa 5K Challenge go back to the students involved in the fitness club. Funds are needed to help organize and host this event again this year.

Project Rural India Social and Health Improvement (RISHI)

Project Rural India Social and Health Improvement (RISHI; www.projectrishi.org), founded in March 2005, is a student-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based at the University of California, Los Angeles. Our mission is to provide for the basic health care and infrastructure needs of Indian villages. We have started with Vadamanappakkam, a village in South India and have addressed several issues there. First, we built a concrete enclosure for a playground to protect children from wild animals and trespassers.
