Inwood Park Gardening and Cleanup

I have always wanted to be a giving part of my community. In church, I always learned that we should get out and do something, but we never went anywhere. I wanted to volunteer at the local children's hospital, garden, clean up the parks, and more but never knew how to get started. Now, I'm a girl scout leader. Our troop started last year with no funds, but big ideas. We are a crew of 35 1st-5th graders and two 13 year-olds, and we wish to make a difference in our community.

Personalized Trash Cans

One day I was walking through the streets of Boston and decided I should blow my nose. Nobody wants to carry around a tissue full of snot in their pockets so the next logical action was to find a trash can to slam dunk my tissue in. After five blocks I didn't see a single trash can. At this point many people would throw it on the ground but I was determined to find a trash can even if it took me ten blocks. After my fourteenth block I finally found a trash can. This is when it hit me.

Peace Park

This project is stimulated from Public Achievement which is an international, experienced-based civic education initiative that empowers young people to engage in public work. Focused on the most basic concepts of citizenship, democracy, and public work, Public Achievement draws on the talents and desires of ordinary people to build a better world and to create a different kind of politics. The Peace Park project was generated from a group of Public Achievement students that want to improve their surrounding community by restoring the Peace Park in Lafayette Colorado.

Hedinger Park

Some school mates of mine once said that the city I live in should be burned down and re-built from scratch. While that is not what this project is about, it can help lessen the negative view that my city is faced with. The Hedinger Park Project is a small step to something that would hopefully turn larger. All I want to do is, with the help of the communtiy, build a park on a currently empty lot across the cities Artist District.

Eagle Scout Project

I wanted to do something pretty meaningful for my Eagle Scout project. Our Scout Troop, Denver Area Council Troop 556, works closely with Denver Mountain Parks, of Morrison, Colorado, to provide some important service to keep parks, trails, and recreation areas in good condition and taken care of. The Braille Trail is one of their most interesting trails.

Brookville Skate Park

Our town(Brookville,IN.) is in need of a safe place for people to skate board. Business owners do not allow skate boarding in the parking lots or sidewalks. Also the town police are busy telling the skateboarders they can not skateboard in public areas. One church will let them skate in their parking lot. They have also formed a group to raise awareness for the need of a skate park in our area.

C.A.R.E Today- Community and Relief Efforts

I want to start a nonprofit organization based on community beautification through the planting of flowers and trees, putting up gates, cutting grass and cleaning up trash in areas that have lots of potential, but are over looked because of the area. I also want to have a program for the youth of the ages of 5-18, in which there will be teaching of the alphabet, mathematics's, reading, and developing good character and manners.

TIP DS Club: Late Night Park Pick-Up

TIP Teens got together and walked from one park to another [about 1/2-3/4 miles apart] and picked up trash in the parks and along the road. It was really fun because you got to meet new people and socialize, while helping the environment. A local news channel even did a feature story on getting it organized.
