If we lined up all of the styrofoam cups made in one day the line would stretch around the world! The worst part is that styrofoam never breaks down. Never. Also, sea animals like eating this plastic foam and it usually kills them and chemicals in styrofoam cause global warming.

During the Summer of 2007, a friend (21 years old) and myself (22 years old) traveled to Tibet together to teach english at an orphanage. during our stay, we saw how the school utilized a very sanitary mini-landfill, and kept their water source and waste systems very well separated. The nearest town from the orphanage (maybe 4 miles) had a much more devastating situation. Trash clogged the waterways, there was no waste removal systems or landfills. The very holy mountain the town was at the base of was also littered with trash, even from the monks!

My project is an on-going one that uses the far-reaching power of the Internet to connect with people and get them motivated, much like dosomething.org does. I concentrate on all types of environmental and energy issues, including providing information, photographs, and also opening up topics for discussion, all while keeping a positive outlook.
EcoAware is primarily focused on MySpace (it is much easier... and cheaper... to reach people this way).

TIP Teens got together and walked from one park to another [about 1/2-3/4 miles apart] and picked up trash in the parks and along the road. It was really fun because you got to meet new people and socialize, while helping the environment. A local news channel even did a feature story on getting it organized.
