The mission of the Baby Blanket Project ~ A Foundation From The Heart, Inc. is to create a caring world by providing baby blankets and other infant items to financially needy mothers and their newborns. Many low income mothers do not have the ability to provide their new children with many items we take for granted, especially books. The Baby Blanket Project particularly hopes to encourage an early start to a good education by providing baby books and encouraging new mothers to read to their babies.

Blankies For Babies is a non-profit charity organization started in 2006 to gather new and lightly used blankies as well as make new blankies for infants, toddlers, and small children who need them. Blankies For Babies has reached infants and small children throughout Oahu, Hawaii and Albuquerque, New Mexico and is spreading throughout Oklahoma, Maryland, Idaho, and several other states.
Our Red, White, and Blue Blankie Party will be held in June 2008 in Ewa Beach, Hawaii.

If you are 13-years-old or older you can be a summer "volunteen" at Norton-Suburban Hospital in Louisville, KY. That is what I did last summer. I was 13 so it was my first chance to do it. I was in the Newborn Nursery on Fridays from 9AM-3PM and in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) on Mondays from 9AM-3PM. In the Newborn Nursery I restocked supplies in the cabinets and cribs, rocked babies to sleep, assisted in hearing tests, and changed diapers. I also got to observe several circumcisions.
